Teeth Whitening

If a crown is recommended by the dentist, it is most likely to protect a weak tooth from breaking or to restore one that is already broken. A crown will restore that tooth to its normal shape and size while making it strongerand improving its appearance. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges and to cover dental implants.

A bridge is used to replace missig teeth and "bridge" the gap where the missing teeth used to be. They are attached to surrounding teeth for support and can be fixed or removable.

Veneers may be an option for covering stained, chipped or crooked teeth. They are a thin tooth colored shell placed on the fronts of teeth to improve appearance.

Teeth whitening is a great way to enhance your smile. Whitening agent, typically in a gel form, is placed in custom trays worn on both upper and lower teeth. Worn over a period of time the agent whitens the enamel. Whitening may not correct all types of discolorations, and will not whiten existing restorations, so you may want to investigate other options such as dental bonding or veneers. Occasional sensitivity or gum irritation can occur, so be sure to discuss any concerns before any whitening procedure.

Sealants and Fluoride

Sealants act as a protective barrrier to help prevent cavities. They are a light colored material easily painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. Sealants may last several years, but reapplication is sometimes needed. The Dentist will check the condition of the sealants during your regular dental check up and reapply when necessary.

Fluoride is a natural-occuring mineral that helps prevent cavities in children and adults by making the outer enamel more resistant to the acid attacks that cause tooth decay. We provide prefessional application of Fluoride topically during your dental visit. Though most Fluoride treatments are given to children and teens, they are also recommended for adults with a high risk of getting cavities or other conditions, such as gum recession, reduced saliva flow, and dry mouth.

Composite resins, or tooth-colored fillings, provide good durabilty in small to mid size fillings that can withstand moderate pressure from daily chewing. We can use a composite shade that closely matches your natural tooth color.

Exams, Cleanings and Periodontal Therapy

A professional cleaning at least 2 times per year can improve your oral health as well as your overall health. During your cleaning you will receive diagnostic and preventive services, and reinforecement of home care.

Diagnostic services incude reviewing medical history, x-rays, oral cancer examination, and evaluation of gum tissue.

Preventive services include plaque and tartar removal, teeth polishing, and fluoride treatments if recommended.

It is strongly recommended receiving a dental cleaning and exam every 6 months.

In some cases, Scaling and Root Planing is recommended with anesthetic for a deeper cleaning of the root surface.

Nightguards

A nightguard or occlusal guard is custom made for each person and fits over the teeth to keep them from grinding. Excessive grinding can cause damage to the teeth over time, leading to fracturing and gum recession.

Tooth Extractions

Dr. Thompson is able to do most extractions, however in some cases more involved, we will refer to an Oral Surgeon for tooth removal.

Emergency Treatment

We offer same day appointments for emergency situations and do everything we can to perform your treatment at that time.

We are a provider for most dental insurance plans and have payment options available. We also offer CareCredit for those who qualify.
